When you make contact with prospective swap partners, it
might be useful to enclose an information sheet about you, your family, your
holiday home and its surroundings.
This is will help prospective swap partners to feel more
comfortable with you and your holiday home, perhaps even providing that extra
piece of information that will persuade them that they want to swap with
you!
There is no hard and fast rule about what to include, but
it's useful to try to think about your holiday home from the perspective of a
visitor. So, consider including some of the following in an email:
• Introduce
yourself and your family, perhaps include some pictures.
• Describe your
holiday home in more detail - how old it is, whether neighbouring holiday homes
have permanent occupiers or are rented, what household equipment will be
available for use by your swap partners.
• Will your swap
partners need to arrange transport to get to your holiday home? What is public
transport like, how expensive are local taxis, how far are bus stops and
airports etc.
• What is the
surrounding neighbourhood like? Identify a few places of interest, local
amenities, social clubs, comment on some local restaurants and local cuisine
etc.
• Tell them
something about the climate and recommend what sort of clothing will be needed
at the time of the suggested swap.
• Anything else
that you can think of to give prospective swap partners a better flavour of
what is on offer, why they can have a fantastic holiday in your holiday home
and why they shouldn't worry about letting you stay in theirs!
